Melissa's journey in health care started in the early 2000's when life lead her to many different people, places and exposure to different ways of healing. In 2002 she started her journey in health care studies starting with massage school and then nursing school and decided to make a pivot and started acupuncture school. In 2006 she decided to take the leap and she started her journey with acupuncture training.
Melissa is a licensed Acupuncturist in Wisconsin and certified by the National Certification Committee of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). Melissa started her education in Chinese Medicine in Portland, Oregon at Oregon College of Oriental Medicine. With a strong family background and a pull to be back in the Midwest, Melissa moved back to be near her family and transferred to Minnesota. Melissa received her Masters of Oriental Medicine degree from Northwestern Health Sciences University in 2011. During her clinical education she interned at Aliveness Project, which is a community center for people living with HIV/AIDs in the Twin Cities area and at The Salvation Army Harbor Light Natural Care Center, providing care to the homeless and low-income adults in downtown Minneapolis; and The Pillsbury House Integrated Health Clinic, a clinic offering free services to the community.
With gentle techniques and compassionate intention, Melissa’s goal is to aid clients in connecting with themselves and assist in their journey in healing, wherever the client may be on that path. Traditional Chinese Medicine access for the whole family, from pediatric to elders, is a personal goal of Melissa’s. Melissa believes everyone should be able to enjoy the benefits of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine, regardless of age or economic status.
Melissa enjoys spending her time with her 2 sons and daughter, hiking the Baraboo bluffs, swimming in all the near by water in the summer, playing in the snow in the winter and enjoying the amenities of nearby Madison, Wisconsin.
